How Did The Environment Of North Americas Provide For Diverse Societies?
North America is a land of great diversity. Much of this diversity comes from the landscape and climate that attracted numerous wandering tribes and led to the migration of whole societies. Some 150,000 to 130,000 years ago, North America had undergone a much colder and more arid climate than it does today. About 130,000 years ago, suddenly a warm phase began that brought moisture in its wake and the conditions quite similar to those today lasted until about 115,000 years ago. There was subsequent cooling and drying of the climate, which eventually led to another phase, one of cold and arid climate. Once again in time, this landscape witnessed a slight moderation of climate and additional aridity. Centuries later the conditions quickly became warmer and moister, with regular interruption of cold and aridity.
