How did the Cheryl Burke Dance studio in San Francisco come about?
I’ve always wanted to open up a dance studio, and since the show started, it was really important for me to do. I think it’s a terrific way to promote physical fitness, and I think it’s so important that people enjoy what they do and have a good time. As you can tell on the show, it’s a great form of exercise – the dancers are constantly losing weight! At Cheryl Burke Dance, it’s not just ballroom classes, though. We have kids and older women and men as well who come in and want to learn ballroom dances, but we also offer hip-hop and ballet and jazz classes as well. Q: Is it hard to do it all – run the school, do the TV show and go on tour? A: It’s been really challenging. Every little break we have, I’ll be at my studio, but it’s hard because of the tour schedule. Last summer was the first time I really had a lot of time off, so I was at the studio a lot. For the next few months, I’m going to be doing the tour, but there are a few dates when I’ll be able to come back. On Dec. 20 and 2
