How did the Black Panther Party legislate the carrying of weapons?
At the time in California it was legal to carry a firearm as long as it wasn’t concealed. The Black Panthers were aware of their rights. They did not terrorize white people. They protected black people from police brutality. They informed people in the community of their rights. They were known to follow behind police cars and watch the police to ensure that they didn’t violate anyone rights. The Panthers were demonized in the media. They still are. Most people compare them to the KKK as if the Panthers went around lynching people. They just wanted equality for black people. The Panthers got harassed by the police and watched by the FBI.
