Ohio State coach Jim Tressel has been keeping him away from reporters since the end of the regular season. I’ve been critical of the Bowl Championship Series, but it has improved media access since it took over the Rose Bowl. In the old days, the Rose Bowl let each participating team make its own media policy. Some teams were accommodating. In 1997, Washington State’s practices were open to everybody. Big Ten teams typically button things up. I get the feeling Tressel would like to spoon feed the media every drop of information before kickoff, but the BCS frowns on that.
