How did Tang dynasty rise to power?
Towards the end of the Sui Dyansty which was just before the Tang Dynasty, the ruler was Yang Guang. He was a cruel ruler and the people hated him. There were a lot of uprisings which severely weakened the empire. Li Yuan who was the first emperor the Tang Dynasty, took the chance and used his own army to rise against the Sui court and eventually replaced the Sui Dynasty.
