How did Switzerland remain neutral during WWII? Why didn Hitler invade?
There was a plan for the German’s to invade but the Germans were scared of what would happen if they did. The Swiss have an interesting military plan that is that all able bodied men are either in the Active Defense Forces or the Militia. That make Switzerland one of the most heavily armed countries in Europe. They also know that there are only Three (3) easy ways into the country, 2 are passes trough the Alps and one was a tunnel, and they mined and defended these very well and then told everyone that they would blow them all up in case of an invasion. Then the Swizz Army would fall back to dug in positions in the Alps and fight the Germans from there. The Swizz have the best military in Europe in that since their freedom from Austria in The 17th Century they have never fought in a war in Europe nor has anyone wanted to engage the Swiss in war. Even the Americans in 1945 made sure that their troops knew not top go into Swiss Territory and even paid The Swiss when the US Air Force bomb
