How did steve irwin die?
Shortly after 11:00am local time on 4 September 2006, Irwin was fatally pierced in the chest by a stingray barb, while diving off Queensland’s Great Barrier Reef. The events were caught on camera and the footage is now in the possession of Queensland Police.[22] He had been filming a segment for his daughter Bindi’s upcoming television series. Irwin was in the area filming his own documentary, to be called Ocean’s Deadliest, but weather had stalled filming. Irwin decided to take the opportunity to film some shallow water shots for his daughter’s television program.[23] Some speculate that a cameraman was in front of the ray when Irwin swam over the animal which may have made the creature feel cornered and threatened. In such a case, the animal responds by automatically flexing the serrated barb on its tail (up to 10″ long) upward, as it might to ward off the more common danger of being stepped on. The BBC reported that this was only the second known fatality in Australian history from
I was just sitting here, thinking about Steve Irwin and said to myself, go to Yahoo answers and see how others feel. Thanks for posting this question. Steve Irwin made me think about animals in a whole new way. I have a greater respect for animals because of him. I used to watch crocodile hunters alot, but in the last couple of years, I moved on to other interests. I just feel very sad about him dying at such a young age. I’m 55 and I guess it makes me feel lucky I’m still alive. Steve Irwin had such a fun personality, I always had the feeling that he was a geniune person, and what you saw is what you got. I would laugh so hard watching him. A very cool person! I love you Steve! Have just as much fun in heaven! Anyhow, I uploaded 2 videos to youtube, a tribute and Crocodile Hunter, most embarrassing moments. That one will make you laugh!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9wCnNFyW2…
Eight thousand miles from the remote reef where Irwin was harpooned in the heart by the serrated spine of a stingray while filming a new documentary, many of Britain’s 400,000 Australians were woken by text messages from loved ones at home bearing the news. Some descended on the themed bars beloved by their countrymen to raise a cold VB in tribute. At the Walkabout in Covent Garden, manager Megan Sawyers tied a black armband fashioned from a bin bag around the front leg of the large plastic croc lying on a bed of fake corrugated iron behind the bar. “It should be a public holiday,” she says. Another man brandishes an inflatable crocodile outside.
Steve was diving in the great barrier reef filming a TV show called “ocean’s deadliest”, when he swan too close to a stingray, who thought that we was being trapped by the camera and the TV star. the stingray was defending himself and had pierced his poisonous stinger through his heart, Steve had pulled the stinger out of his chest, but moments later he was gone. this was all filmed, the police have the tape for evidence but will not be showing it to the public yet.
