How did Rosa Parks stand help Obamas presidency?
Ms Parks refused to move to the back of the bus in Alabama. In those days everything was segragated–the water fountains, the bathrooms, lunch counters. And blacks had to ride in the back of the buses. Ms. Parks took a stand that, for that time and day, was remarkable, when she refused to sit in the back of the bus. Without her the Civil Rights movement might never have gotten the jump start that it did. She was a courageous woman and it took her and people like her to fight for the rights of the black people in this country. President Obama can thank her for leading the way to equal rights for all–if it had not been for her and Martin Lutheran King, Jr. President Obama might not have been anything more than Barack Obama today.
