HOW DID ROBERT ZEMECKIS REVOLUTIONIZE THE FILM INDUSTRY?
He hasn’t. He works within the confines of the Hollywood structure, and consistently turns out entertaining, but utterly shallow films. He hasn’t changed anything about the way films are made. The directors that have revolutionized the film industry are D.W. Griffith, Orson Welles, Jean-Luc Godard, Michelangelo Antonioni, among many others, but Zemeckis isn’t and never will, most likely, be on that list. His contribution to the arts has been limited because he makes Hollywood films. In the same way Spielberg’s, and Lucas’, and many other Hollywood director’s contribution’s have been limited because they work in the studio system. Hollywood does not want a rich, deep and contemplative film that invokes more daily life routines. Hollywood wants action, and unrealistic stories.
