How did Rapa Nui(Easter Island) become so successful?

0

Rapa Nui was reached about 300-400 CE by Polynesian explorers. The island had abundant resources and the population increased. The trees were cut down and the land was planted. The wood was used for boats which allowed the inhabitants to fish. Easter Island has no lagoons because there are no coral reefs. Boats were necessary for fishing. As time went on the population increased (as populations will do) and the land was over planted so that its fertility was exhausted and further destruction occurred by erosion. The trees were all cut down for crop land so no boats could be constructed. Weird religions came into being. The population crashed.
