How did Randy Savage defeat the late Andre the Giant in a WWF title match in the late 1980s?
If you are referring to the series of matches they had after Savage won the WWF World Title at Wrestlemania IV, the answer is that all of the matches ended in countout and disqualification wins for Savage. In the only one I’ve seen on Coliseum Video, Andre was disqualified for choking Savage. Do you remember a character from the WWF in the early 90’s, he always wore a white tank top, he had a tattoo of a diamond on his forehead, he was a heel, but always putting his hand out for a handshake and he had long black hair in the back, but balding up top, does any of this ring a bell? The character was Waylon Mercy, played by Dan Spivey briefly towards the end of his career. He did a series of eerie vignettes, wrestled for a short time, and then the gimmick was dropped. He did wrestle Bret Hart and Savio Vega in what were probably the highest profile matches of the “Waylon Mercy” run.
