How did Rabbits and Eggs become Symbols Of Easter?
Easter is based on the Pagan Spring Solstice/Equinox rites. Since spring is a time of rebirth after winter, birth and fertility were celebrated. Rabbits and eggs are both symbols of fertility. In Roman times, missionaries attempting to convert pagans to Christianity incorporated the pagan rites into Christian teachings (and quite successfully). The other modern day stuff is just due to commercial and cultural influences.
