Oooh, I just learned this in US History a few months ago. Prohibition made alcohol illegal. But, just like now, just because something was illegal didn’t stop people from doing it. “Speakeasies” arose, which were secret bars. They often had passwords to get into. Apparently there were a lot of them. Without prohibition though, there would have been no speakeasies, which were a big part of the 1920’s.
