How did prohibition affect the moral fabric of America?
Since governments shouldn’t try to govern “morality” prohibition caused people to break the law in order to do what they did not see as “morally” wrong. So, once people started breaking the law it kind of broke the dam and made some people think about breaking other laws. Like, if it was sort of ok to go to the illegal drinking places, make, drink, or sell alcohol, it’s one step closer to breaking other laws they didn’t like. As far as prohibition affecting the moral fabric of America, it’s really less about people drinking and more about pushing them over the line to break a law whereas before prohibition they would have been less likely to want to break the law. Because the laws made sense or they saw a reason why there were laws.
