How did Pocahontas die?

0

Pocahontas married Jon Rolfe on April 5,1614. She had her son, Thomas Rolfe on January 30, 1615. Pocahontas was actually kindnapped by two Englishmen and was then tricked into captivity. The purpose of her capture was to force Chief Powhatan into giving them a ransom for her release. Powhatan gave the ransom to the Englishmen, but beacuse the chief still had some of their weapons hidden, she remained in captivity. She was held in captivity from 1611 to 1614, but she decided to stay within English society after her release. So as you can see, the real life story of Pocahantas is really nothing like the Disney version of the tale at all! Pocahantas died from an unknown disease as she was ship-bound for Gravesend. Although the exact cause of her illness and thus, cause of death is unkown, many historians believe that she died of pneumonia or tuberculosis.
