How did past DMP students arrange their accommodations in NUS? Did they rent private hostel or share an apartment?
For the first semester when you come to Singapore, it would be much better to try to arrange for the hostel room with NUS. The main reason is that you would actually first be in Singapore for only about 5 months. Most of the off-campus room rentals are for a one-year lease agreement, so it would be a lot of hassle if you need to find someone to take over your lease before you go to GT. However, you should apply early to NUS for a room, as the hostel rooms tend to get taken up very quickly. If you want to stay off-campus, the third semester would be a good time as you would be more familiar with what are the better places to stay, etc.
