How did New Zealand-based comedian Dave Wiggins get started in comedy?
Dave Wiggins is an American comedian, who lives and works in New Zealand. Dave grew up in Gorham, Maine, USA and moved to New Zealand at the age of 19. In 2003 he entered the Raw Comedy Quest. Dave did not win this competition, but it gave him a taste for comedy, and he decided to pursue it as a career. Soon Dave became a regular at the Classic, New Zealand’s only full time comedy club. In addition to the Classic Dave has performed all over New Zealand, and event toured Australia. In 2003 the New Zealand Comedy Guild voted Dave ‘Best Newcomer.’ In 2004 Dave headlined a sell out show at the New Zealand International Comedy Festival that was voted ‘best new show.’ A show in the Melbourne International Comedy Festival called A Yank Down Under is scheduled for April 2006.
