How did Muslim rulers deal with the wide diversity among peoples that they ruled?
Muslim rulers dealt with the wide diversity among the people that they ruled in a way that helped their empire. Most of the rulers, especially Akbar, were very tolerant of the people and cultures they conquered and ruled. If the people were monotheistic, like Jews and Christians, they were respected and allowed to keep their religion, but most converted with the polytheistic people. Aurangzeb, the emperor from 1658 to 1708, did not allow religious freedom. The emperor spread their architecture, clothing, food and weapons to the conquered people. One of the factors that lead to the collapse of the empire was that the emperors allowed local rulers to rule within certian areas, which caused the emperors to be less powerful. Also, the local ruler’s loyalty was not always with the emperor in Baghdad. The Muslim emperors ruled the wide diversity of people very well.
