How did Mt St Helens volcanic eruption affect the environment?
The local environment was devastated through the explosion, ash and mudslides. Further afield, clouds of dust were hurled into the atmosphere. Whether there was any measurable change in earth temperatures due to this dust is not clear. It didn’t take long, however, for nature to start to re-claim the devastated area. Volcanic ash makes for great soil, and if you go to the area today you’ll see plenty of trees and other plants. Good luck with your homework!
