How did Mozart die?
Speculation through the movie “Amadeus”—and this is only my speculation—–shows that Mozart may have died of advanced liver disease that was probably brought on by the stress of trying to compose the “Mass of the Dead”, or Requiem. The liver disease may have been triggered by his constant drinking during his composing. It is now known that too much alcohol for prolonged periods destroys the liver to the point of cirrhosis, or total liver failure. When your liver completely fails, you have Hobson’s choice—you need a transplant, or you just sit there for death to enter your body within 2-3 weeks. That was why Mozart was on his deathbed near the end of “Amadeus” as his body started to fail because of the toxins released by his bad liver. Transplant surgery was impossible for Mozart because no one had a match, and surgery would have been so painful for Mozart because in that period, there was no anesthesia.
