How did montcalm, in the seven years war win?
The French lost the war. There were no ships involved in the battle. Montcalm was killed during the fighting at the Battle of Quebec (Battle of the Plains of Abraham), as was his British counterpart, Wolfe. There was indeed one small path along the waterfront that was left fairly open by the French, but not totally unguarded, and native women had nothing to do with anything. The path served no more important purpose than to allow the British to land troops and thus deploy them onto a proper battlefield outside the fortress city. The big deciding factor in the battle wasn’t numbers, equipment or morale, but the fact that Wolfe employed innovative new tactics of a more fluid battlefield, while Montcalm was trained and indoctrinated in the French method of absolute, unchanging use of large unit set-piece battles suited to the wide open plains of the European Theater. Even though personnel losses were comparatively low, the loss of the fortress at Quebec was the death note for the French.
