How did Martin Luther King Jr. become a leader?
Martin Luther King Jr, the civil rights activists? Was a baptist preacher who became involved in various committees, one that challenged the Jim Crow laws of the south. A great orator and writer he was invited to participate in more aggressive movements but never at any time, for the safety of his family, did he want to be seen as the leader of the civil rights movement, that happened only by a fluke when he was arrested for leading a peaceful demonstration. Literally thrown into the lime light nationally and globally he was seen as the Gandhi of the movement. His audiences grew larger and when he was assassinated he became the crucial chess piece of civil reform.
