How did Louis Braille become blind?
Louis Braille became blind at the age of 3. He was in his father’s workshop where his father made leather saddles for horse riders. Louis had got his hands on an awl (an instument used for cutting leather) and accidently stabbed himself in the the eye and was blinded in that eye. The other eye went blind from sympathic ophthalmia(blindness following through to the other eye.) Louis Braille was also the inventor of the Braille language which is a series of raised dots to enable blind people to read by feeling the raised dots. Louis Braille was trying to be like his father, by doing what his dad did.
