How did Linfield perform in the Puget Sound game?
“We played well as a team. Certainly, we had a more purposeful week of practice and and improved a great deal from the Willamette game. We didn’t play a perfect game, but the coaching staff was very pleased with the way our guys responded. Offensively, our running game was much more effective, the line blocking was better and the receivers blocked very well, too. If we can run for 200 yards every game, that’s going to really open up the passing game. Defensively, I thought we played a sound football game. UPS is a very difficult team to line up against because they have so many varied formations. We tackled very nicely in the open field and had some hard tackles. Jeff Denney had his best game of the year. Paul Partlow (Sr., Portland, Ore.) did a good job at linebacker when Alex Tkuchuk didn’t suit up. Brian Mehl and Keone Tawata each had strong games and really set the tempo for the whole game. The punt and kickoff coverage teams did a great job every time they were on the field.” What
