How did Knute Rockne die and how old was he?
Kenneth Rockne (1888-1931) is considered to have been one of the greatest college football coaches in history. At the College Football Hall of Fame, his biography describes him as “American football’s most-renowned coach.” Rockne was Norwegian and had studied chemistry at Notre Dame. On March 31, 1931, Rockne boarded TWA Flight 599. He was headed from Kansas City to Los Angeles to work on the film The Spirit of Notre Dame. While flying over Kansas, one of the aircraft’s wings separated, and the airplane crashed, killing all eight on board. http://www.nd.edu/~wcawley/corson/rockneportrait.
