How did John Lockes theories contribute to the American Revolution and Declaration of Independence?
John Locke’s basic theory was that a higher “Natural Law” guaranteed liberty to every person and that this natural law was morally superior to all human laws and governments, each individual possesses certain inalienable rights, among these are life, liberty, and property. These theories contributed to the American Revolution and to the Declaration of Independence which when Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence he used John Lockes theory. Some people would say that Thomas Jefferson used John Lockes theory even to the point of plagiarism.
