How did Jackie Wilson die?
Jackie is in Westlawn Cemetary in Wayne Michigan (Michigan Ave & Merriman). Jackie was performing “lonely teardrops” when he had a massive heart attack and collapsed, head first, on stage. Jackie went into a coma due to head trauma and was hospitalized for nearly 9 years. Reportedly, Dick Clark, upon finding out Jackie was penniless, paid his hospital bills. Jackie’s funeral had 1500 mourners/family/fans but was buried in an unmarked grave. Since that time donations erected a marble gravesite where he also appears to have been buried with his mother, Eliza.
