How did IU Choose Cascade Server?
The project began with a survey of computing professionals, Local Support Providers, and account owners on the central web servers. In addition, survey results from two other universities were considered. The survey resulted in the list of initial requirements by the middle of 2007. Soon afterward presentations were given by three vendors to educate participants on Web Content Management. During the late summer and early fall of 2007 vendors demonstrated common tasks for each Web Content Management System listed. The observers voted to proceed with the commercial product Paperthin’s CommonSpot and open source product eZ Publish for the next phase of the project. A temporary license to use CommonSpot was acquired, the product was installed, and the product was demonstrated. eZ Publish, was also installed and demonstrated.
