How did imperialism influence 19th century china?

0

Imperialism in the 19th century brought new ideas, products, and cultures into china. This, in turn changed the chinese people dramatically. Originally the chinese believed their products were superior than anything the Europeans had to offer. But when the British started selling Opium in China, the Chinese became upset and started a war, rightly called the Opium Wars. (there were more than one) So England won, and forced the Chinese to sign the treaty of Nanjing, which gave British more trading oppurtunities in China, bringing in new information, products, and culture into the country. Hope that helps!
