How did howard carter find Tutankhamuns gold?
“The gold” wasn’t what you think. It was the inlay and overlays of various objects in the tomb. It wasn’t a bunch of ‘treasure chests’ that were stacked up. The value of the articles far exceed the actual price of the gold. Carter used his logic to locate the tomb. He had done the typical ‘dig here, dig there’ like all the rest of the seekers, but when he surmised that all the diggings trailing were being piled in one location and all the logical spots had already been hit, he correctly assumed that the only space not searched was where they had been piling the debris from the other digs. Once the debris had been moved it only took a few yards of dirt being moved to convince him that this was the right spot. There is a lot more to it, but part of it was the idea that things weren’t where they should have been in regard to the other ‘found’ tombs of the other Pharaohs.
