Handball spread in Europe as this is where the origins of the sport begun. There where distant related versions of this sport played going back to Ancient Greece and Rome “Harspaten”. Versions of Handball survived during the Middle Ages in Germany “Fangsballspiel” meaning catch ball game and throughout region. Also during the Middle Ages Knights played a game similar to Handball as well as a way to stay in shape. Modern Game of Handball can trace it start at the turn of the 19th century based on field handball games called “Raffle Ball” and “Konigsbergerball” and another version of games was played in Danish town of Nyborg. Germany, Denmark and Sweden starting in 1910 when G Wallstrom introduced the game where the countries that spread the game. It was German physical education instructors such as Karl Schelenz 1919 ,regarded as the father of modern Handball, that created rules for the game with his 11 a side field version (outdoors) and would be used as the bases for the modern indoor
