How did Greek and Italian words find their way into the English language?

Primarly they were Greek an Latin words. The italian ones directly comes from Latin words. I think they were adopted in Enlgish when Romans conquered in Great Britain. Romans language was Latin, tighly related with Classical Greek (that was the cultured language like Franch in the ‘800s, the universal one, smtn like Enlgish nowadays), and during their conquests Romans share their culture (religion, language, customs…) with conquired people…maybe that’s why those 3 language mixed together….
