Good Friday started 2000 years ago. God loved the world,and sent his son Jesus Christ. He died to save the world from there sin against God. He died on a Friday. We have been thankful for his sacrifice, so we rember Good Friday. As far as the official holiday, I do not know when the goverment brought it in. You will have to look into history for that information.
