Despite blathering to the contrary James the 2nd was not trying to foist Catholicism upon Britain what James was working towards was, YIKES, Tolerance for all (Christian) Religions – – – yet he was ousted by a cabal centered around the ambitious William of Orange of the Netherlands and his wife Mary, the daughter of James. Oddly enough the pay off came nearly a century later when the American Colonies wrestled Independence from Britain. What is the connection between these two events nearly a century apart? Ever hear of a place called New York? Named for the patron of the colony. James was that rare English Monarch. He actually gave more than a passing thought to the ‘New World,’ was an avid sponsor of colonial societies (Pennsylvania and Maryland can both give a nod to James) and also an advocate of a strong
