How did Galleons contribute/help the age of discovery when exploring different lands?
Since Galleons were larger and sturdier than the Carracks and Caravels that were used all the way up the 1500s, they could go farther and carry more with out being trouble as much by high sea. This led to greater expeditions and the further experimentation with ships being primarily square-rigged, as opposed to the triangle sailed Islamic vessels that influenced European naval design. If it were not for the introduction of the jib sail to European vessels though, then Colombus could have never made his historic voyage due to the fact that the triangular jib sail allows sail in more directions against the wind.
