How did From the Heart begin?
In 1996, the Glendale Human Services Council, a local organization serving Glendale human services agencies, and the Glendale City Council created From the Heart. Its purpose was to provide Glendale residents the opportunity to improve social service in our community. The McCormick Foundation and the Arizona Republic Charities joined this effort, pledging to match every dollar with an additional 50 cents. The program began receiving donations in September 1997 and has raised and distributed more than $1 million to help Glendale residents in need.
