How did forensic evidence turn the McCann family into official police suspects?
Kate and Gerry McCann became suspects in the death of their daughter at the end of last month, as Portuguese police began receiving the results of tests on evidence collected during a review of their investigation. Tests are continuing on a mass of material gathered at the Ocean Club resort from where Madeleine disappeared, other properties in the area and vehicles used by the couple and other people connected with the case. Experts at the headquarters of the Forensic Science Service (FSS) in Birmingham, which is carrying out the tests on behalf of the Portuguese authorities, believe they have already discovered significant new evidence.
