How did Evacuation in WW2 affect children?
Think it as if you were an evacuee. Would you like to be away from your parents for years? Children in WWII were sent to the countryside, to get away from the bombings in their city. They had to leave their parents for years. Them children will wonder wheter they will see their parents ever again. If their parents would have survive any of the bombings, which was unlikely, then the children would be relieved to see their parents for the first time in many years. Some adults would not recognise their own children, and the children wouldn’t recognise their own parents. The children would have been so excited to see their parents, and to share a happy life with them. Their experience would have been nervous and worrying. Their mind would be all muddled up with questions such as, Will I ever see my parents again? Am I safe here with these strangers?
