How did EPA develop Appendix 2: Alphabetic List of Chemical Constituents of Interest for this study?
EPA developed the list of chemicals in Appendix 2 by starting with chemical constituents from the Hazardous Waste Identification Rule list and from the universal treatment standards (UTS) list, and removing chemicals which cannot be analyzed in a laboratory and chemicals for which there were no available ecological and/or human health effects data. A consent decree requires EPA to study an additional 105 chemicals, so EPA added those chemicals to the list.
