How did england get the red cross and white flag?
The Red Cross against a white background is the Cross of St George, patron saint of England (and Greece as well). It was the traditional flag of England untill the formation of the United Kingdom, when the flags of England and Scotland (the Cross of St. Andrew) were combined to form the “Union Jack”. With the resurgance of nationalism the Old Flag is seen more and more at sporting events and other such places and is enjoying renewed popularity among persons of English heritage.
