How did emperor constantine spread christianity in the byzante empire?

feel that emperor constantine had a major role in the spread of Christianity. However, I did not think that he was chiefly responsible for the spread of christianity. I think christianity will still become the world religion that it is today even if Constantine had not approved and adopted this religion as the official religion in Roman. By the time Constantine was in power, christianity was already a major force to be reckoned with in the empire of Rome. Christianity had not only not diminished but it had blossomed readily in the time of roman persecution. Even if Constantine had not adopted Christianity as his religion, some other emperors of Rome would most likely had done so, as getting the support of a by-then large number of Christians in the Roman empire would be a good political reason for any emperor to want to gain the favor of the christian population.
