How did emigration policies in Europe and the USA contribute to the Holocaust?
The pre war emigration policies aided the Nazi’s in their work and assisted in justifying the Final Solution. The Nazi’s took it as a sign that the rest of the world agreed with their anti-Semitic stance that the other major nations , as official policy, took none or few of the Jews who applied.They actually sent out a liner full of Jewish emigres knowing that no country would accept them. Canada’s minister of immigration actually said , when asked how many Jews he would accept, none. This convinced the Nazi’s that what they were doing was tacitly agreed with by the other nations. They were wrong only by degree.
