How Did Early Europeans Usually Obtain Supply Of Slaves?
A common misconception is whites went into African territory and used force to capture slaves. Africa already was governed by rulers who willingly traded the local people they held for European manufactured products. They had full cooperation from the local rulers who brought the slaves to be sold right to the European coastal trading posts. There was never strong organized or unorganized effort by Africans against the slave trade. The trade could have never been as large as it was without African support and cooperation.
