How did dollhouses come into existence?
Information about the earliest known dollhouse dates back to somewhere between 1550 and 1580 where Albert V., Duke of Bavaria commissioned a dollhouse to be built modeled after his own house. From there, dollhouses were used to teach young ladies about household management, as display cases for travel souvenirs, and as toys for children. Our article “The History of Dollhouses” has detailed information about dollhouses from their early days to today.
