Derek Fisher played for the Utah Jazz and had 3 years left on his contract. Fisher’s daughter, 10-month old at the time, was diagnosed with this rare form of eye cancer, retinoblastoma, which has an 87% death rate for children under the age of 5. Utah does not have a specialist for the treatment of this cancer. The Utah Jazz management agreed to annul the contract so Derek can go wherever he wants instead of having to trade him which may have no guarantees and will take some time.
