How did David and Maddie meet?
In the pilot episode, Maddie went to the detective agency in order to sell it because of her near bankruptcy. When she meets up with the boss and man in charge, David Addison, sparks fly immediately, and for the first half of the episode they argue about keeping the agency open. David follows Maddie on a date trying to reason with her, and it is there that a man dies literally at their feet. David uses this opportunity to involve Maddie on their first case, which convinces Maddie at the end that becoming a private investigator has promise.
