How Did ConneXions Begin?
In 1986, Georgia Warren, a previous St. Matthews parishioner, initiated monthly dinner fellowship groups called Foyer Groups. The Rev. John Pitts changed the name to ConneXions about 1992. After Georgia suffered health problems, Jeri Muhich and Judy DeWitt volunteered to continue the fine tradition Georgia worked so hard to establish. Jeri and Judy organized the dinner groups for eight years. During this time, ConneXions grew into a large and vibrant ministry at St. Matthews. ConneXions is responsible for generating hundreds of friendships and helping newcomers and seekers feel included in the St. Matthews community, regardless of age or marital status. This is accomplished by forming small groups of about 10 adults who meet monthly in each others homes to share a meal with no other purpose than to get to know one another better.
