In the fall of 2002, when it became clear we might go to war in Iraq. I wanted to look at all the information about Saddam and the situation and understand it before telling people I thought it was a bad idea. There were lots of different versions of the facts and lots of opinions on the Internet. I thought, there’s got to be a site that says, “Here are the facts people agree on, here’s what’s open to debate, and here’s some background.” I never found it. One thing we knew was that we wanted a site 90% of Americans could trust. So many people had lost trust in the mainstream media. We asked ourselves, how can we get the trust of readers?
