How did chicken kiev get its name?
Wikipedia says: This famous method of preparing chicken or pheasant is not of Ukrainian origin as the name Kiev, the national capital, would imply. The Soviet food writer William Pokhlyobkin claimed it was invented in the early 20th century in St Petersburg, and was called “kotlety Novomikhailovskie”, being renamed to “kotlety po-Kievski” later in the Soviet Union.
