How did Candy become interested in animation?
I got into animation accidentally! I went to college to do Fine Art wanting to do film and photography. The reason I did animation was because I could do it on my own. If I had wanted to make a proper film with a camera and sound, it meant I had to get other people together and write a script and organise it all. When she was a child, Candy loved cartoons and avidly read comics like the Beano. This love of cartoons and comics is what she thinks influenced her later on. When I was at college, Id write letters home and Id always illustrate them with little drawings. At the time, I never thought I was going to be a cartoonist or an animator. It was just something that I naturally did. I think going to art school gives you a chance to express yourself. I started to see what I was doing as my work instead of it being just a hobby.
